Lights!

Lights. Lights are important for this ride. Really important. The GONG Ride doesn't start until the sun goes down, and it may take five hours or more to finish. Some of the roads are quite remote, dark, and sketchy even in bright daylight.

We aren't going to recommend any specific lights, but things to consider are the brightness and run-time (compare low, medium, and high settings). Also consider whether or not you want a light with removable batteries and how many extra batteries you might want to carry.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to bring more than one light so that you can have extra light when you need it, or to have a backup in case your primary light fails.

Please do your research and ensure that you have sufficient lighting for the duration of the ride. Visit your local bike shop (Omaha Bicycle Co., for example) for some light recommendations.
